New Virus Attack On Global Computers By North Korean Hackers!

Reportedly, a cyber attack has affected computers in 150 countries recently. It may have done by North Korean hackers, found by an Indian- origin security searcher at Google.  

According to a Russian security company, PTI noticed that Neel Mehta’s code has given biggest evidence to find the most prominent reasons of this hacking.

The researchers found that some codes have been written in Friday’s Ransomware, popular software named as WannaCry. The codes used in this software were pretty similar to the code used by the Lazarus Group. It is a famous North Korean Hackers’ Group that is responsible for hacking Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2014 as well as Bangladesh Central Bank last year.


According to Mehta, “cyber security experts have become alert now and are investigating the sources of this hacking blunder. They are relating this recent hacking act with the Lazarus Group that made similar event last year.”


BBC News reported that, there are similarities found between codes of WannaCry and other tools developed by Lazarus Group. According to security expert Mr. Alan WoodWard, the time zone set on WannaCry code was UTC+9- China’s time zone. The text written in Chinese was translated by machine in English that meant as ransom, said in report.  

Neel Mehta’s efforts gave a significant win to the investigation team about emergence of WannCry. He was first reached to the truth than others.  

The report said, it’s sure a cyber-attack is done North Korean hackers once again. But, North Korea has never accepted it and shows no involvement of his country. Also, the US government and researchers have admitted to have hand of North Korea in this cyber crime.

According to report, hackers have simply copied the code as they used in earlier attack done using Lazarus Group. Hence, similar technique of cyber-attack used my North Korean once again. So, it is worth to go into depth of investigation and efforts turned out to be fruitful. Now, it is explicitly show, North Korea hackers are directly involve in the matter. 


The North Korean hackers have all set to bring this cyber attack only to make money. But it’s been quite strange to know that there is only around 60 K USD paid for the whole blunder.

In this report, it is mentioned that around 200,000 computers in the world have been affected in 150 countries with this cyber attack. The list also includes systems of some reputed corporate companies and leading businesses as well.

This is the second North Korean cyber attack that turned out to be more drastic on global systems. The experts have witnessed political intention behind the act too.  

Now, whole world is on high alert and have advised to control over their online transactions for few days, if possible.
